Covent Garden Gallery in Ontario’s beautiful Prince Edward County has shown my work for a few years. My RedEye Gallery partners Jennifer Hinrichs and Michael Steinhauser first met Covent Gallery owner Michael and we enjoyed two years of reciprocal cross- promotion between our galleries.

Micheal is a networker extraordinaire and he keeps his finger on the pulse of what is current in his corner of the market.

Below is a recent email that has kick-started my painting plans for January 2010. Here is some of what Michael had to say:

Wanted to give you … clients feedback after reviewing your Covent Garden webpage. My thoughts are more pieces … with lots of texture which sells well at Covent Garden.

Since reading this email feedback, I have been sketching with an eye to texture and contrasting values. The next step is buying canvas. My recent days of painting on non- stretched canvas are over for a while as texture requires the solid foundation of stretched canvas or board.

Meanwhile, until the art supply store reopens on Monday – value sketches and more value sketches.

Are you aware of texture in a painting? Does it appeal to your taste?
