Sometimes as an artist you simply get too close to your work to see it objectively. Of course this could simply be what happens to me. This video shows two paintings: one is a painting that I was going to put white gesso all over in order to start again. Several people gasped a resounding NOOOOOO when they heard that news. I responded with a decision to save it as there was something about it that really appealed to me as well.
I decided to play with adding a companion piece using texture and a similar palette. I started with black gesso over the texture because the black anchors the original work.
Here are three different stages as this painting progresses.
I would like to see these hung about an inch apart either horizontally or vertically.
If they could talk I can imagine them wanting to live in a loft. What a great idea!!! Me too!!!
